At J. F. Kitching & Son building a safe, productive, professional and reliable service team has been a key element to our success. In order to provide a superior level of service to our relationship partners, we outfit our service team with a complete “toolbox” of resources to enable them to be the best in the industry.
We conduct a thorough pre-screening of all applicants, including review of driver and CVOR abstracts, reference and background checks. During orientation training prospective candidates receive in-cab ride-along evaluations, WHMIS, first aid and CPR training, as well as a comprehensive overview of our Health and Safety policy. A variety of customized corporate apparel such as 3-in-1 reflective outerwear and t-shirts is provided to all staff to ensure they are visible in all seasons no matter what the weather.
Our driver development program is continually under review to keep pace with changes within industry and ensure legislative and customer compliance. Input from our Joint Health & Safety Committee is vital in strengthening this program. Regular safety talks, memos and meetings keep all service team members abreast of legislative updates, enables them to increase their knowledge base and promotes safe work practices.
